Bloc Party. New song. Non-Album, like they’ve done before with both ‘Two More Years’ and ‘Flux’ (later added with reissues) as separate singles. So not an original plan from the Bloc. But it’s worked well in the past. Don’t doubt me, I love everything that Bloc Party have done so far, absolutely adore their three brilliant albums and those other two separate singles. But, this new song, One More Chance, to me, is just not up to scratch really, well, it’s just taking me long to warm to it. From it’s 90s House music inspired back beat, and the echoing of Kele’s vocal, less epic than Mercury, it just does not come across as truly brilliant as the Intimacy album. And also does not attempt to change their sound much like Flux. Oh well, I’m sure that in time I will enjoy it, but it is monumental being the first Bloc Party single I did not instantly love. Listen below, see if you share my lukewarm reception.
