I love Later…with Jools Holland. It is the best music show on TV, full stop. Top of the Pops became a stank, rotting corpse but for Jools he continued on. And thankfully so, I hear alot more music than I would ever normally. And it surprises me how much I enjoy certain musicians, or as the case is, I don’t.
This series has been chock and block of fantastic people playing, simply brilliant so far. I loved watching the Specials enjoy their TV comeback as well as Depeche Mode play songs off their new album, both ace performances. Those with access to it, I recomend you actually watch it, it’s also on the BBC’s amazing iplayer if you’ve missed it. The last show had the New York Dolls on it as well actually, they’re playing damn well for their age. Here’s some songs from recent performers on the show;
Lisa Hannigan – Ocean and a Rock
This song’s live performance was just spell-binding, I pretty much fell in love with it straight away.
Raphael Saadiq – Sure Hope You Mean It
I didn’t know that music like this was being made anymore. Thank fuck that it is, Saadiq is just amazing, as well as being incredibly youthful looking at 42 (or 43?)
Hockey – Learn to Lose (Filthy Dukes Remix)
This new band were really good on the show the other week, here is a good remix of their forthcoming single Learn to Lose.
