(I think Meursault is also a wine/region of France?)
Thanks to Song, by Toad Records, they sent me the debut album of Scottish “folktronica” band Meursault – who sound abit like Fleet Foxes/Bon Iver, but with an electro-y twist to their tunes, + some others i’ll be sure to listen to. Meursault are actually rather grand, a band I already pretty much love, their songs are so unique, otherworldly even, the fusions of the genres are great.
the band:

I heard of them through the Music For Kids Who Can’t Read Good blog (link to the right in my blogroll), and am very glad I did, this album is one I think I could of put in my (probably soon to be revised) best of ‘08 list. Im sure of it.
There’s one song that I adore, I mean seriously am in love with it, its like 4 minutes of ear ecstasy. It’s called “The Furnace” and from the moment it’s dial-up modem inspired intro kicks in, I pretty much swoon, it makes me so happy and for lack of a better word, warm, the electronic beat added together with the charming banjo complete a match made in heaven. It and another track below
Meursault – The Furnace
Meursault – The Dirt & The Roots
second song sounds like almost completely different to the first, in my opinion, there’s less reliance on electronic sounds here though, makes it more organic.
Watch out for these guys in the new year, however their album is out now, and I seriously recommend that you buy it now, so go here
Also I’ve been posting alot recently, bit uncommon to be honest. Im quite buoyed by the christmas spirit to be perfectly honest. I’m looking forward to it this year.
