New horizons

Well I’m on wordpress now. I’m over impressed with this blogging tool. I wasn’t on Blogger that long to be honest but I was rather frustrated with it. The lack of good-looking templates and some features that never really worked that well. I changed the layout twice in the last few weeks and both were disappointing if I’m honest. This new one on wordpress however is very nice, professionally minimalist and the ability to incorporate my own picture is a massive benefit.

I’m begining to get to grips with it and I thought I should post in to get the ball rolling.

I listened to a song today that I just adore, I heard it previously without knowledge of band or name. I’m talking about White Lies and their track “Death” which is just all round brilliance. I think this band will be a huge hit next year, their album is due for release on the 19th Jan so look out for it.

Swedes: the sweet serenades/lykke li

Was sent recently this track from a reasonably new indie two-piece, it’s the lead single off of their forthcoming 2009 debut album. They’re from Sweden, they’re called the Sweet Serenades. It’s really good, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was the outcome if Abba decided to take an indie direction with their work. And that’s not solely because of their shared port of origin, this music is genuinely up-beat and feelgood. It makes me very happy.

Also thought that I’d post, on the subject of Sweden, about Lykke Li, she’s someone I sort of ignored through 2008, now i have her album though, and upon first listening it’s really good, if I had heard it earlier I might have included it in my best of year list. Well on first listen my favourite track is “Breaking It Up”. the lyrical story of which I’ve ended up on the other side :/ but its a great song!
